Airbnb, an American home-rental company, announced Ahmad Al-Dahle as the company’s new Chief Technology Officer, a move that signals a greater push to expand its use of artificial intelligence and improve the platform. The decision comes as Airbnb continues to compete with other tech and travel companies integrating artificial intelligence into their services.
In a personal letter shared in the company’s newsroom, Al-Dahle introduced himself to users and outlined his goals for the company, emphasizing his role on building new technology that supports users in general while keeping the platform simple and easy. He also emphasized the importance of trust since the whole company is in his hands.
“My goal is to help Airbnb build technology that feels intuitive, responsible and useful,” Al-Dahle said. He claimed that innovation should make the experience easier for users rather than more complicated.
Before joining Airbnb, Al-Dahle worked for Apple and Meta. At Apple, Al-Dahl held leadership positions focused on AI and large-scale product development. Similarly at Meta, he worked on AI systems designed to facilitate personalization and user experience across big platforms.
Al-Dahle’s background in AI is expected to play a major role in Airbnb’s future direction. The company has already begun introducing AI into search tools, customer support, and host services, all of which are expected to further expand with Al-Dahle’s leadership.
Airbnb officials said his experience makes him a strong fit for the role as the company seeks to innovate. In his introduction, Al-Dahle stressed that technology should support people rather than replace human connection, a message that aligns with Airbnb’s identity.
Industry analysts say that his appointment could strengthen Airbnb’s competitive position as travel companies increasingly rely on data and automation. Al-Dahle’s experience at both Apple and Meta gives Airbnb access to leadership familiar with scaling products across global platforms.
Al-Dahle’s arrival is a shift toward a bigger investment in AI while keeping the company’s focus on community and accessibility. As Airbnb continues to grow, his leadership is expected to shape how the platform evolves and adapts to emerging technologies in the following years.
