On Feb. 24, Pompano’s varsity softball team played the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs, who scored 16 runs to shut out the Tornadoes.
The Tornadoes had one hit compared to the Chief’s eight. After just five dominant innings, Cardinal Gibbons took home the win 16-0.
Senior CJ (Cali) Berrios had a batting average of 0.500, and contributed the Tornadoes’ lone hit.
“Next time, I think the team can bounce back from the loss by focusing more on defense, and polishing off our errors,” Berrios said.
Pompano plays Westminster Academy on Feb. 26 away and Archbishop McCarthy on Mar. 2 at home.
