On Tuesday, Feb. 24, the Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes hosted the Fort Lauderdale Flying L’s in their second home game of the season at 5:30pm. The game was also Pompano’s second of the BCAA tournament.
The matchup started off like any other game, with the Flying L’s scoring 3 in the first inning compared to Pompano’s 1. The Tornadoes then put up another run in the third to make the score 3-2. Everything fell in the 4th, when Fort Lauderdale scored 8 runs and one more in the 5th to make a final score of 12-2, beating Pompano. Three of the Tornadoes hardest workers were Phillip Barris, Reece Ward, and Mossimo Carbone, who all had an average of 0.667 up at the plate.
The team had high hopes for the tournament, asking people to “Come out… to cheer on your Pompano Tornadoes.” This will not discourage them though, they hope to gather their second win of the season next game.
With that, Fort Lauderdale heads to Nova High School on Mar. 26 to take on Monarch in the tournament at 3:45pm, while the Tornadoes battle McArthur on March 2 in a tournament game too.
