Friday, Feb. 20 at 5:30pm, the Tornadoes varsity baseball team hosted the Cooper City Cowboys at home, losing 12-1. The lopsided non-district game was Pompano’s home opener.
Cooper City dominated the entire game and Pompano’s lone run came in the fifth inning before the run-rule. The Tornadoes gave up 12 runs and eight hits to the Cowboys with just one error. Pompano’s star player Junior Mossimo Carbone had three of the team’s four total hits. Mossimo was also able to gather an RBI to bring in the Tornado’s only run.
The team, attempting to gather momentum for this game, asked people to “Come out and support.” Unfortunately, these efforts didn’t work, but can be used as motivation for their upcoming games in the BCAA tournament.
The Cowboys head to Coral Springs to take on the Jaguars at 6:30pm, while the Tornadoes travel to Hollywood to face South Broward looking for first win of the season, also at 6:30pm.
