The Tornadoes run-ruled the Trojans in five innings with seven hits. Junior Mackenzie McLeod started the game in the circle and threw three hitless innings with eight strikeouts before sophomore Payton Vasquez took over in the fourth and earned the Tornadoes three more K’s.
Senior first baseman CJ Berrios had no problem shifting to shortstop posting a perfect fielding percentage and contributing two hits and two of the team’s seven RBI’s.
“We excelled at communication on the field and stayed locked in throughout the whole game,” Junior second baseman Tori Cyccone said.
The game put Pompano at 2-1 record and Taravella 1-0. Pompano will face Cardinal Gibbons on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
