The long-awaited newest season of “Stranger Things” comes out to leave us all on edge. This Netflix series has always thrived on nostalgia and monster chasing adrenaline, but this season might just be the best with it being the last season.
The show has mixed reviews about how long the episodes are, but some think it’s better that it’s that way. I think the emotional rollercoaster it puts you through is worth every sprawling minute.
What stands out the most is how confidently the show embraces change. The core cast, that were once goofy and wide eyed children are now much more mature and older. The performances land with a weight that the earlier seasons couldn’t reach. Instead of running from monsters, they are now confronting them, trying to get rid of them for good.
Visually, this season is the most realistic the series has ever looked. The upside down finally looks real and not like a spooky backdrop.
That being said, this season isn’t flawless. Some storylines drag, certain characters could use more screen time, and they are ruining certain friendships and relationships that fans love. Yet, even with these flaws, the season never feels lazy.
This season delivers a blend of horror, romance, suspense, and friendship. Knowing that all the fans basically grew up with the show, the show is also growing up with us, and now that we are older the show is sadly doing one last swing of the nail bat before it’s hung up for good.
So turn on your red led lights and go watch the new season of Stranger Things that is rated PG-14 on Netflix.
