The music program led by Mr Banaska has been hard at work with the winter concert quickly approaching on Dec. 11 at 6pm, in preparation for an amazing performance at Pompano Beach High School. The students have been practicing during class and during rehearsals, making sure everything sounds perfect. They are featuring songs such as “The Star Spangler Banner,” “Semangt Membara” and “Who has Seen the Wind?”
Behind every performance there is a learning process, and each student has their own way of practicing and memorizing their music. “My method is to run through a song once, figure out where I messed up, and patch it up so I nail the song,” freshman Aindri Satyaketu, said. “My method for learning music was to work with my section and learn it as a group, then arriving home and practicing individually,” freshman Kelab Cruz said.
After the rehearsing and preparation, a huge part is how much the performers enjoy the music they work on. “I really do enjoy what I’m learning because it brings us together as one and helps me get to know people better,” Gasmane St. Hilaire said. “Yes of course I love performing these songs. I actually wish we did one more song, “Once Upon a December” from Anastasia. Unfortunately the idea was scrapped due to the lack of time,” freshman Flavia Sisco said.
