“Tron: Ares,” a sci-fi Disney movie, hit theaters Oct. 10, 2025. Rated PG-13, it is the third movie in Disney’s Tron trilogy starting all the way back in 1982 and has a duration of an hour and 59 minutes. “Tron: Ares” is set in the future and follows Ares, an AI Program sent on a mission from the digital world into the real world. This journey marks humankind’s first contact with A.I. beings and is claimed to be extremely dangerous.
The film has received mixed reviews overall with 4.3 stars on Google and 53% on Rotten Tomato. Fans of the films mostly credit its amazing visuals: “…the visual environment of the film was not left behind giving it all with the modern style that we saw in Legacy and also giving a tour of the grid of 1982,” Adrian Coronado said, according to Google Reviews
“Tron: Ares” has a five star cast with Jared Leto, most popular for his role as Loki in the “Marvel” universe, starring as Ares, and Jeff Bridges who starred in the two prior Tron movies, returning as Kevin Flynn. The movie was also set up for success being directed by Joachim Rønning, who also directed movies like “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.”
“Tron: Ares” is a great movie. It is nostalgic for lifelong fans of the trilogy, and a great, captivating start for those who just found it and fell in love. Overall, “Tron: Ares” could very well be the comeback Disney needs after their last few cinematic disasters!
