Our “favorite” villain shrinkflation is now attacking “milk’s favorite cookie” as the cream in our Oreos is decreasing. Oreos must be on a new diet where joy is off the menu as many fans of the cookie have reported seeing thinner layers of cream and that the “Double Stuf” Oreos now resemble regular Oreos.
Oreo’s classic lovable cookie to cream ratio is 71% cookie to 29% cream. However, it is becoming evident that this ratio is not being met. Based on photographic evidence published on “northernpublicradio.org,” the Family Size Double Stuff Oreo pack used to be 566 grams, but now only weighs 530 grams. This 6.3% decrease in weight is believed to have been taken from the cream filling. Many consumers also point out that the cream filling used to reach the edges of the biscuits they were sandwiched between. However, the disc of cream now only fills the middle of the Oreo, leaving much of the black biscuits empty.
In relation to the growing issue of oreo shrinkflation, the Mondelez CEO Dirk Van de Put said, “we would be shooting ourselves in the foot if we would start to play around with the quality.” Although this was an attempt to shut down any more shrinkflation claims and evidence, Oreo fans are still outraged and state the company must face legal consequences due to this blatant deception. By falsely advertising Oreos as they were in their glory days, along with Mondelez International claiming no change has been made to the amount of filling when fans are clearly seeing a major difference, fans are feeling lied to and are seeking action NOW!
