Pompano Beach High School is happy to introduce a new teacher in the science department this year: Rachell Ferrer. With eight years of experience teaching science, she brings expertise to her classroom.
Before joining PBHS, Ferrer taught in the Philippines, where she taught physics, biology, chemistry, and earth and space science. “I became a physics teacher because I am passionate about teaching, and I love physics,” she said. “I love solving problems, teaching students, and also how physics is connected to our everyday lives.”
Even though it is her first year at our school, Ferrer is quickly adapting to the new environment. “I love Pompano Beach High School,” she said. “The students are wonderful, the administrators are amazing and very supportive and helpful, as well as my colleagues, especially the science department.”
In her classroom, Ferrer teaches more than just equations and experiments. She hopes that her students learn curiosity and determination. “I also hope that they will learn perseverance and that they can make mistakes,” she said. “It’s natural, and I am always here. I’m like a guide to teach them.”
Ferrer’s favorite part of teaching is watching students succeed and understand challenging material. “There is real joy in seeing students understand the concepts, understand the problems, or understand the formula. It’s also rewarding,” she said. She loves seeing students leave her room happy and comfortable.
Ferrer loves hands-on learning and engaging school work. “Breaking down complex ideas into simpler ones is [always] my first priority,” Ferrer said. Even though the ideas are complex, she makes sure students understand it completely. “I also provide more examples for them because I always believe that practice makes our work perfect.”
Ferrer is already making an impact at our school with her enthusiasm for teaching. She wants students to be confident and curious about the world around them, all while learning physics.
