Following the success at the state championship meet, the swim team was rewarded with a cookout provided by the athletic department.

The boys placed third overall and the girls placed seventh a huge leap from last year when the boys placed sixth and girls placed 12th. An important factor in their success was the boys 200 Freestyle relay, where juniors Nicholas Potter, Gianni Famiano, Giuliano Brunetti and senior Steven Gary came in second overall.

“I feel like we all knew how important this race was for the team and we showed up and got it done,” Brunetti said.

The cookout for the swimmers took place on Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. There were hot dogs, beverages, chips and upbeat music playing.

“It was really cool to have a small celebration after the great season we had,” sophomore Andrew Smith said. “I feel like we all worked hard and it paid off in the end.”
