The swim team was the first sport to make states this season. Held Nov. 19 in Stuart, 36 swimmers qualified and almost all made finals. The boys finished third and the girls, seventh.

Sophomore Lilia Blanco was the highest scoring girl, placing third in 200 yard IM and fifth in 100 yard freestyle.

“I am most proud of making a futures cut (qualifying for a national youth championship) in my 200 IM,” Blanco said.

Junior Giuliano Brunetti was the highest scoring boy, placing fourth in 200 IM and third in 500 yard freestyle.

“I felt states being moved a week later messed up my tapering schedule,” Brunetti said. “But I was focused and confident in finals, and I feel my team performed well and gave it their best shot.”

Relays were strong for both teams. The girls placed third in the 200 free and sixth in the 400 free. The boys finished second in the 200 free and third in the 400 free.

When asked what the teams’ goals for next year were, coach Rojesterman Farris simply said, “Repeat.”
