The girls softball team opened the season Feb. 21 with a 10-0 victory against Monarch.

Senior outfielder Mckenzie Jewell hit a home run, the team scored eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings to end the game, and sophomore catcher Bridget Swanepoel earned player of the game from the coaches.

“I feel really proud of myself for winning player of the game since it’s my first time receiving the title in high school,” Swanepoel said.

The team plays at West Broward March 2.
