Debate team takes on Harvard

The debate team traveled to Boston to compete in the Harvard National High School Invitational Forensics Tournament Feb. 18-20. Most of the debates took place at Harvard campus, and the students seemed to really enjoy this.

“It was really cool to see the actual Harvard campus, like the students and everything. It just felt surreal,” freshman Natalia Spina said.

Junior Naoki Yoshiue placed 17 out of the 473 competitors and received an award from the Harvard Debate Association.

“I feel very proud of myself because people came from everywhere to be there,” Yoshiue said. “Even other countries – which is crazy – and to place top 20 in a competition like that is such an honor. I’m just really happy to see that all the hard work I did leading up to it paid off.”

Most of the students who went agreed that it was an experience they would never forget.

“The memories we made and the experiences we had will always be something we’ll think back on,” freshman Stanley Arnoux said.
