The debate team held the Manatee District Qualifier, a regional tournament for debaters from all over the state, on the school’s campus March 9-10.

Student and parent volunteers worked to make the event happen. Students were assigned to get donations from local restaurants like Wawa, Hungry Howie’s and Krispy Kreme

 Freshman Stanley Arnoux was one of the volunteers who received an award for outstanding help. 

“I was really surprised because I didn’t know they were giving away awards for that, but I was happy,” Arnoux said. 

Novice debater freshman Ava Goindoo enjoyed seeing a tournament from a different perspective.

“I always go to debates but I’ve never been a part of holding one, so it was a good experience for sure,” Goindoo said.
