The SeaPerch club is focused on building ROVs (remotely operated vehicles), underwater robots that students work together to design and assemble.

For students interested in pursuing STEM in the future, SeaPerch club is a prime opportunity to learn and practice engineering.

“The purpose of SeaPerch is to expose students to the world of engineering in a fun and hands-on way,” junior Omri Shoshan, club president, said.

The club currently plans to send teams to competitions in February and March, so members are planning and building ROVs during meetings.

“(I)t is very fun to build underwater robots and see them in action,” adviser Jennifer Russo said.

SeaPerch is open to students of all levels of experience in hands-on engineering.

“Although the club does focus on tackling issues such as competition courses through engineering,” Shoshan said, “students can take away much more, such as learning to work as a team, and can have fun and get creative in the process of building an ROV.”

The club typically meets on the first Thursday of every month, though meetings will increase to once every two weeks as competitions approach.
