With a new semester comes the beginning of a new school play, and our school’s drama club is wasting no time creating their cast; auditions for “Puffs,” PBHS drama’s next production, opened Jan. 2.
“Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic,” is a play that parodies the beloved story of Harry Potter from the perspective of the Puffs, the equivalents of Harry Potter’s Hufflepuffs. Being a play as opposed to a musical, “Puffs” features next to no singing and dancing.
When auditioning, students have the option to record themselves reciting either a single monologue or two contrasting monologues. They are also able to submit a recording of themselves doing an impression of a character from Harry Potter to showcase specific acting skills that may help build the world of “Puffs.” While the show is based on Harry Potter, prospective actors do not need to be familiar with the books or movies to audition.
“Our little community of Thespians is extremely welcoming. I felt very welcome back in ninth grade to come and show up just as a tiny little crew member for one of our shows that we did a few years ago,” senior and Puffs director Charlotte Cramer said. “Even if you’re scared of the stage but still want to be involved, we still have many other opportunities.”
Interested students can join the drama club Remind with code @pbhsthes, and they can submit their auditions at this link through Jan. 13. Those hoping to become tech can sign up at this link.
