Many of us dream about being actors or actresses when we’re younger. Drama club at school allows many students to live out that aspiring dream. Drama club is something not every high-school is able to have, and we are lucky enough to have one. For the 2024-2025 school year our wonderful troupe put on Spongebob:The Musical. Through legendary lighting and sensational sound, our auditorium transported us to the wonderful world of Bikini Bottom!
On Dec. 5 and 6, a showcase of resilience and determination was given in the auditorium. For only $5 students could enjoy a two and a half hour show full of adventure, comedy, and friendship. In this musical Spongebob had to find a way to save Bikini Bottom from a threatening volcano. It starts off with Spongebob and Patrick as well as the bikini bottom citizens. They all find out a volcano is going to erupt and while they’re trying to come up with solutions, Plankton creates a plan to take over.
Previously the club has given us phenomenal shows working together to create interesting musicals and plays. In theatre, everyone has a part to play from the president, to tech, to the ensemble. Everyone contributes to the show and they make it an amazing experience for everyone. To the group, theatre is more than just a school club. “Drama club as a whole has given me a chance to practice performing arts with friends who share the same interests. I also get to connect with people in all grades and learn about others,” junior Aliyah Bilu said.
On their final night, a sweet message was shared in support of their president and director Campbell De Sosa, their sponsors Ms. Alston and Ms. Russo and their tremendous stage manager Charlotte Cramer.
And that’s not all! In addition to Spongebob, they’ll be putting on Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic. For all Harry Potter or theater fans out there, it’ll be an action-packed adventure, so go give support!
