Graduation moved to online

Supt. Robert Runcie announced that all graduation ceremonies will be held online and broadcast over BECON tv. Graduation will be held June 19 at 1:00 PM.

AP exam updates

The College Board announced that all AP exams will be given online in 45 minute sessions. All questions will be free response in order to create an environment with minimal cheating. Most exams will also only test on the first 75% of the course. Click here for the schedule, format and coverage of each exam.

Statewide assessments cancelled

Florida Gov. Ron Desantis announced the cancellation of FSA and EOC exams for this school year. Broward Schools superintendent Robert Runcie announced that online learning will begin Mar. 30 at the normal end of spring break. Students who do not have access to a computer at home can pick up a device starting Mar. 20 from 8 am to 2 pm at their regular school. Students should bring their parent or guardian and fill out a property pass form online prior to arrival at the school.

Schools closed due to coronavirus

Broward County will be closing schools temporarily beginning on Monday, March 16. Miami-Dade, Archdiocese of Miami and Palm Beach County will also be closing schools.

The decision came just over 24 hours after a press conference in which Superintendent Robert Runcie announced Broward County schools would remain open but all extracurriculars would be suspended.

Schools will be closed for the week leading up to spring break, effectively giving students two weeks off of school.

The following schools will provide breakfast and lunch to Broward County students whose families qualify.

  • Blanche Ely High School
  • J.P. Taravella High School
  • Nova High School
  • Miramar High School
  • Dillard High School
  • Charles W. Flanagan High School
  • South Broward High School
  • Hallandale High School
  • Boyd H. Anderson High School
  • Plantation High School
  • Sunrise Middle School

Students who wish to take advantage of this program should bring their school ID with them to one of the schools listed above.

Before and after school care services will still be provided to families which need it, with  a priority given to children of district employees, hospital workers, first-responders and emergency staff.

International trips cancelled

All school international trips have been cancelled and exchange students will not be allowed on campus amidst the coronavirus outbreak.

This includes trips to Poland/ the Czech Republic, France, Germany and Egypt.

If and when students will be reimbursed for cancelled trips has not been announced.
