The novice debate team finished the state tournament at Cypress Bay High on April 10-11 with a total of 4-2.
“The team had very high hopes coming into this tournament and tried our absolute hardest,” freshman Yash Upadhyay stated.
Upadhyay joined sophomore Naoki Yoshiue and freshmen Dylan King-Pena, Joseph Calderon, and Dhara Patel. Patel had the best finish on the team, sixth overall in Congressional debate out of 96 other competitors. However, the team was not able to qualify for semifinals.
“Despite all that it was a great opportunity and we all made the most of it even if we didn’t win,” Yoshiue said.
