Where there is a Jordan, there is a save

Now at the midpoint of the first season of “What If..?,” the formula should now be clear, with of course a few changes to each character arc.  This week’s episode brings the question of “What if Killmonger saved Tony Stark from the Ten Rings?”

To sum it up, Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) saves Tony Stark (Mick Wingert) in Afghanistan back when the Ten Rings kidnapped him. They become “BFF’s,” but as Pepper Potts has her suspicions, Killmonger ends up being a … quadruple agent? Who seeks vengeance against those who silenced and murdered his father, cousin of T’Challa’s father while making Stark, the U.S. government, mercenaries, and Wakandans believe that he is the one who can end the war, but at the end he ends up going on a murder spree.

Michael B. Jordan brings the same intelligence to his character he had in the 2018 movie “Black Panther,” but the show’s formula can’t save every episode;  this time the voice acting was pretty good, action scenes excellent, visuals meh, and the story is not written in the best way possible, even if it is still very enjoyable.

Hopefully thanks to every episode ending with a catastrophe and the trailers showing a final battle with all the variants fighting together, we could truly see a multiversal war that is (really crossing my fingers here) pretty well planned and written out.
