Senior sprinter Giselle Lenchus signed on May 2 to attend Tiffin University and run for their track team.
Although the signing was virtual, teammates, coaches and parents were excited. It was awesome to see Coach Thomas Didymus and Coach Darius Brown, as well my teammates, cheering on Giselle as she signed her letter of intent. We all wore green and yellow to support her since those are the colors of the northeastern Ohio school.
Although I was on the team with Giselle for only one year, she was a friendly, motivational captain. I met her last year when Coach Frey hosted an event for incoming freshmen who wanted to play sports, and I attended since I was a member of the cross country and track and field teams in my middle school.
I remember distinctly how kind and patient Giselle was in answering questions for both me and my parents. She was hoping at that time to sign for a college team, and I am thrilled that she has accomplished that dream.
Giselle and all of our graduating senior class will be moving on to a new adventure in life, but hopefully they have an opportunity to come back to the school and visit. I wish Giselle, and all of the Class of 2020, the best of luck in college!
