Some Good News: Prom, graduation must go on

John Krasinski, the actor known for his role in the television show The Office and movie A Quiet Place, has taken upon himself to spend all this extra quarantine time to do something productive and uplifting.

Krasinski started a YouTube channel known as SGN, Some Good News, inspired when he tweeted to his followers asking for them to share some of their good news stories.

“For years now I’ve been wondering why is there not a news show dedicated entirely to good news,” Krasinski explained in his first episode.

Due to the recent spread of COVID-19, high schools throughout the country had to cancel classes and special events, the biggest being prom. Throughout social media, high school seniors shared their disappointment for having their senior year cut short.

On April 19, Krasinski wanted to do something special for the Class of 2020, so he hosted a mini-prom on a YouTube livestream.

He did not let the Class of 2020 down, because on this livestream he had surprise celebrity guest appearances to perform and celebrate with the rest of the senior class.

Krasinski featured music artists such as Chance the Rapper, the Jonas Brothers, Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas. They performed songs like “Bad Guy” and “Sucker.”

In the livestream Krasinski featured clips of seniors celebrating at home.

The Class of 2020 may miss out on some once-in-a-lifetime high school experiences, but this is just one way that people like Krasinski are trying to make this time a little less upsetting, giving seniors an opportunity to still make those special high school memories that they will always remember.

And honestly who else can say that the Jonas Brothers, Billie Eilish and Chance the Rapper performed at their prom?!?

Here is the link to the show, hopefully it will make your day a little brighter:

UPDATE—THIS JUST IN: Krasinski tweeted Tuesday that SGN would be hosting a virtual graduation, #SGNGraduation. The next day he tweeted that the date would be May 3.
