Papering up, hunkering down

By Ethan Del Campo, Staff Intern

It’s a strange new world when every day household items become valuable commodities and hard to find. Who thought a few short months ago there would be a lack of paper goods such as toilet paper and paper towels throughout grocery stores nationwide?

When the UPS driver beeps, it isn’t some exciting item my family is waiting for. Inside the box could be some hand sanitizer disinfectant spray or toilet paper. Gone are the days of ordering frivolous items.

For my first full week of distance learning, in addition to schoolwork, I have had to help my parents with cleaning and sanitizing in order to protect us, my 86-year old grandmother, and my 107-year old great-grandmother from contracting COVID-19.

If every American does their part, hopefully, this strange new world will start to change back to the world we have all loved.
